Associate Attorney – Employment & Municipal Law
Norwalk, Iowa (Hybrid/On-site)

Compensation: $95,000–$145,000 DOE + performance and discretionary bonuses

We provide practical, high-quality legal services to public and private employers and local governments. We are looking for a mid-level Associate Attorney who is ready to take ownership of their work, grow a practice, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
*Position Overview*
The Associate Attorney will work primarily in employment and municipal law, handling a mix of counseling and litigation-related matters. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience, is comfortable working directly with clients, and is interested in developing long-term expertise in these practice areas.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, contracts, ordinances, policies, and other documents.
* Handle client communications, including counseling employers and municipal clients on day-to-day legal questions.
* Appear in court and before administrative agencies as needed.
* Assist with negotiations, mediations, and hearings.
* Maintain accurate timekeeping and comply with firm policies on billable hours, remote work, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
* Collaborate with partners and staff to advance client objectives efficiently and professionally.
* Travel throughout the state of Iowa and the upper midwest as needed.
* Give presentations to groups of professionals on matters of legal importance.
*Qualifications*
* J.D. from an accredited law school.
* Licensed to practice law in Iowa and in good standing, or ability to become licensed in Iowa promptly.
* Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to high ethical standards and client service.
* Valid drivers license.
* Reliable transporation.
*Compensation and Benefits*
* Base salary range: $95,000–$145,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
* Performance-based variable compensation tied to billable work, plus the potential for discretionary bonuses.

* Reimbursement for mileage and other work-related expenses.
* CLE support and reimbursement/allowances.
* Payment of professional dues and bar fees, as approved by the firm.
*Work Expectations*
* Full-time position, generally a minimum of 40 hours per week.
* At-will employment.
* Expectation of professional judgment, responsiveness, and proactive communication with clients and colleagues.
