BUDGET CONTROL TECHNICIAN

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under supervision perform difficult clerical accounting duties involved in keeping and reviewing financial and statistical records; monitor employee and purchase order requisitions; handle expense transfers; and perform related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform budget and expenditure transfers;

2. Perform the transfer of funds;

3. Supervise and manage mandated costs programs; prepare necessary reports;

4. Perform the analysis of line-item budget accounts;

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of accounting and budget planning practices and procedures;

2. Knowledge of fiscally related record management systems;

3. Knowledge of computer assisted budget and accounting related equipment and software;

4. Ability to apply analytical and statistical principles and procedures;

5. Ability to follow complex and technical oral and written communications with precision and judgment;

6. Ability to meet strict deadlines; and

7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:

1. Graduation from high school including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping; and

2. Two years of experience in financial recordkeeping work with experience in data entry systems and spreadsheet software preferred.

Effective 7.1.2025:2025-2026: Salary schedule increase of 2% and a 2% off-schedule payment at year-end. : Salary schedule increase of 60% of the statutory funded COLA plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end.: Salary schedule increase of 50% of the statutory funded COLA plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end
