Job Description

A compelling leadership opportunity is available for an accomplished Assistant Nurse Manager Labor and Delivery ready to shape clinical practice, strengthen team performance, and remain close to the work that matters most. This role offers meaningful authority within a high-acuity obstetric setting, pairing frontline visibility with the operational reach to influence safety, staffing, and the patient experience across a dynamic maternity program.

The healthcare organization offers an established practice environment where experienced leaders can contribute without navigating unnecessary layers of decision-making. Collaborative nursing leadership supports clinician autonomy, thoughtful onboarding, stable staffing practices, and productive interdisciplinary relationships. The culture values accountability, practical problem-solving, and leaders who develop others. For a nurse manager seeking sustained professional growth, the position provides exposure to broader hospital operations while preserving a strong connection to bedside teams and daily clinical priorities.

Within Labor & Delivery, the Assistant Nurse Manager Labor and Delivery will help lead high-acuity obstetric care in a fast-moving patient environment supported by 24-hour women’s services. The scope spans daily workflow, staffing coordination, patient throughput, clinical escalation, quality improvement, and consistent adherence to nursing standards. Working closely with obstetric physicians, nursing leaders, and frontline RNs, this leader will have visible operational ownership and the autonomy to address barriers in real time. The role is well suited to an L&D RN Manager who understands the pace of OB care and can balance immediate clinical demands with longer-term priorities.

Reporting through nursing leadership and supported by hospital executives, this leader will translate organizational goals into reliable unit-level performance. Core responsibilities include staff development and clinical operations , coaching and performance management, schedule and resource oversight, policy implementation, regulatory readiness, and review of patient care outcomes. Close partnerships with physicians, nursing supervisors, maternal-child health leaders, pharmacy, laboratory, respiratory therapy, and other ancillary departments will be central to the work. The successful candidate will influence practice standards, strengthen communication across disciplines, and create clear accountability while remaining an accessible resource during complex clinical situations.

Greater Los Angeles offers a distinctive combination of professional opportunity and lifestyle flexibility. Residents can choose among energetic urban communities, quieter suburban settings, and family-oriented areas with varied housing and school options. Southern California living brings a mild climate, year-round outdoor recreation, beaches and mountain access, an internationally recognized dining scene, and exceptional arts and cultural experiences. The region’s extensive network of communities also allows candidates to weigh commute preferences, amenities, and pace of life when deciding where to settle.

The broader package is expected to include comprehensive leadership benefits such as medical coverage, retirement offerings, paid time off, continuing education support, and access to leadership development resources. Experienced maternity nursing leaders who are ready for greater operational influence are invited to confidentially connect with a Clinical Management Consultants recruiter and explore whether this next chapter aligns with their career goals.
