Overview
Texas Virtual Schools seeks a licensed and enthusiastic Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students in our K-12 virtual learning environment. This remote position will be responsible for conducting evaluations, developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), providing therapy, and collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and other support staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication and technology proficiency, and a commitment to providing effective and engaging virtual SLP services.

Essential Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students referred for potential communication disorders, utilizing appropriate virtual assessment tools and techniques.
  • Analyze assessment data, write clear and concise reports, and determine eligibility for speech and language services.
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings to present evaluation findings and contribute to IEP development.
  • Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) with measurable goals and objectives based on assessment results and student needs, in collaboration with the ARD committee.
  • Implement IEPs effectively through engaging and evidence-based virtual therapy activities and strategies.
  • Adapt therapy techniques and materials to meet the unique needs of individual students within the virtual setting.
  • Provide direct and indirect speech and language therapy services to students via synchronous (live video conferencing) and asynchronous methods.
  • Utilize a variety of virtual platforms, interactive tools, and resources to deliver engaging and effective therapy sessions.
  • Address a range of communication disorders, including articulation, phonology, language (receptive and expressive), fluency, voice, and social communication.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust therapy to ensure IEP goals are met.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student communication development and integration within the virtual classroom.
  • Provide consultation and training to teachers and parents on strategies to support students' communication needs in the virtual environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, therapy goals, and home-based activities.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of evaluations, IEPs, therapy sessions, progress reports, and other required documentation under state and federal regulations and school policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and ethical guidelines for the provision of speech and language services in a virtual setting.
  • You will play a key role in our collective success by proactively pivoting to support emerging business needs and strategic priorities directed by your manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing speech and language services to children and adolescents (K-12).
  • Familiarity with the IEP process and Texas special education regulations.
  • Experience providing teletherapy or virtual speech and language services.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an online setting.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills.
  • Residency in the state of Texas is required.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • A valid Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or eligibility for licensure.   
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
